Later the building transformed into a two-storey hotel to serve French officials, and given the name Le Coq d’Or (or the golden rooster in Vietnamese). It was built with 56 rooms with 12 premium suites. Le Coq d’Or Hotel was sold on May 19th, 1931. After that it was upgraded and expanded with 1 more floor and 80 rooms called Splendid, and was inaugurated on January 1st, 1932. Spendid Hotel satisfied even the most fastidious French guests thanks to its elegance and convenience, and also for the location at the best spot in the city, near trade centers, banks, supermarkets, opera houses and theatres.
When peace was restored, the hotel changed its name to Hoa Binh Hotel till todayand came under the management of the Ministry of Domestic Trade. At that time,most of guests were international diplomatic delegates from socialist countries.
